How many books? I can’t even count them

What books do you want to read?

The list is endless. Only today I read a couple of articles in the CIPD Work magazine and identified three new books I would like to read. Who knows when I will find the time actually read, digest and compost their offerings.

The fiction book in my bag (for I am travelling this week, for work) is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. She’s rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors.

Only last week I finished another of her books (again whilst travelling, although that was for pleasure): Home Front. The book that first introduced me to Hannah’s writing last year was The Four Winds. It is heart wrenching, powerful, aching prose. I felt like I was living in 1930s dustbowl America. Read it!

When it comes to non-fiction, I’m looking forward (I guess, you could say?) to getting my teeth stuck into Hospicing Modernity by Vanessa Machado de Oliviera. This was a Christmas present I asked for in our family’s Secret Santa. As the top sentence conveys on Amazon, it’s “a book about facing the multiple crises of modernity – and hospicing modernity – with maturity, humility, and integrity.” Meaty, confronting stuff…

I could go on, and on. Really, these two don’t even scratch the surface of my reading/wishlist. Maybe I’ll do a follow-up post once I’ve got through these…
